This happened...

Lucky me I was only two miles from storage on the way to a weekend in the mountains. Life without an awning is rough but I'm happy damage was minimum and everyone was safe, although I'm going to need some forest green touch up paint!

Same exact thing happened to me last year on the fire road heading to Horse meadow campground in kernville.

Front mount was heavily twisted..rear two let loose. Pulled over pretty quick with very minimal rash on the plastic Fiamma endcap. Had to stuff it in the van for the rest of the weekend.

Dang Jage, no good. How bad did it tear up the end of the awning?

Surprisingly not much, the rear plastic cap is cracked where it hit the pavement but functionally I don't think it's damaged. I was lucky in a dozen ways including just enough room to emergency stop on the shoulder such that I didn't have to drag it for another quarter mile to pass the guardrail.

I'll update in another seven years when I've bothered to source replacement brackets...

No, the forum mounts from back when. I'm sure there are photos or a post of my install floating around. I'm not sure what failed either, the back bracket didn't seem damaged, bolt was intact and nut in place, and I think all the parts were there. The front bracket got twisted as boy wonder noted, and my middle wasn't a bracket but a support. The whole thing was rock solid last time I touched it and visually it wasn't sagging or flopping or anything. It came off the van drip rail, all the bracket-to-awning connections were solid.

Actually... I did have my rear suspension airbags full with no extra load and drove a few miles before pulling off and reducing them to normal. It was rough but nothing like a decent washboard. Might have contributed, but I don't think it was cause.
