To Lift or not to lift

Hey Forum, I would like to get you’re thoughts on both the pros and cons and what to expect if I did a lift on my new SMB. I’m considering a 3 inch lift on my 2008 GMC Savana Dura max diesel SMB. The main reason for this is to do a bigger off road tire. The tires and height it currently sits at drives great and looks pretty cool so I’m a little concerned that If I lift it and go to 35 tires and custom fuel wheels what this could mean to steering and drivability. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Joe

Nice rig. Quigley 4x4? Already have a lift?

I lifted my 2008 Quigley with no lift and have no regrets. 33” tires though. Upgraded my rear springs, shocks, and tie rods as well. Weldtec Designs did mine.

Boulder Offroad for the lift as you are in CO?

Not asking the same questions, but here is a thread I started a while back about this:

What size tires are you currently running? Mines a short wheelbase like Marrets, but I lifted mines and found the ride to be better in the front and don’t feel like it compromised stability at all. I did upgrade the shocks at that point so it likely offset the left.

You can easily get enough lift to run a 33 ish by just changing out your torsion bar levers/keys in the front and by adding a small block in the rear. Contact Quigley for your build sheet and ask them the GM part number for the front levers/keys. I posted the info in my thread when I did it. I can look it up if you cant find it. I would suggest though if you’re willing to spend a little, going to custom rear leaf pack as Marret suggested from Weldtec. You can also go whole hog and get the full front lift kit as well.

What I like about Weldtec's lift is the lift being accomplished with a longer knuckle and revised subframe for the front differential/suspension instead of lifting by torsion bar. Definitely not cheap and many do the lift through the torsion bar route.

As a person who has lifted pretty much every vehicle I've owned, I have to ask: why do you want to lift it? Why do you think you need 35" tires?

If it's just for cosmetic reasons, I still won't argue with that, just curious if there is a performance shortfall you're trying to overcome?
