Did you have your engine running? Idle?

No Sr. I did not try that option does the alternator keep up with the draw. I am usually camping in locations where i don't want to start the engine. I have 200W worth of fixed soar panels. even when its on shore power or gene i never seem to use the microwave for anything other than storage. should have opted for more storage or a bigger fridge.

Our SMB had a microwave and we too got rid of it. I replaced it with a pull out drawer. I then got another matching door from SMB West to cover the area. We use the space to store most of our canned goods.

Even a stock alternator will help replenish some of what's pulled out but in most cases it's better to run the microwave at lower power as the engine runs. Yeah you can't pop popcorn on low power and it takes longer to warm stuff. I added a second battery so I could be more stealthy when running it w/o the engine screaming. But if you never use it, space is premium and wins IMO.

I removed the original one in my van. It had been in place for 13 years, and had never been used, it still had the foam packing inside.

We use our micro every trip.

What we don't use, except for once, is the Starcool A/C. Have to be on shore power to use it, it's very loud on the outside, and hangs down below the frame.

Van came with it, so I'm kinda stuck with it because I told the wife that I wanted to remove it and got a flat NO if I wanted her to go camping with me in the future.

I have to admit, I paused a little before responding to that....
