What we don't use, except for once, is the Starcool A/C. Have to be on shore power to use it, it's very loud on the outside, and hangs down below the frame.

Van came with it, so I'm kinda stuck with it because I told the wife that I wanted to remove it and got a flat NO if I wanted her to go camping with me in the future.

I have to admit, I paused a little before responding to that....

I was on the fence about a micro but I think I am going to scrap the idea for a space. I think i will go for the fridge but no microwave.

For me it was one of the requirements to make my van a true RV (considered as a cooking source). I do like the microwave for some things but space is important as well. I totally understand your POV. The funny thing is I added a propane stove later in the build. Just a convenience thing. You still might want to make the necessary power runs to where the MW would normally sit. At least it's there for future.

Any updates since 2009 on the quality of the Sportsmobile installed side and rear bug screens. Mistake or waste of money?

I have the side one (or will once 1der gives it back to me!) and I love it. Super easy to put up, easy in and out, and keeps 99% of the bugs out.

Only thing I would change is instead of the zipper opening, I'd prefer a magnet, as it would be easier.

Sorry to play Devil's Advocate, but would a magnet on metal wear off the paint at the contact point? Enclosing the magnet in fabric would help, but if you are attaching at a painted metal surface, I would imagine you would still ultimately have wear.

I am thinking of making something, and am considering snaps, with a zipper down the center. Still chewing on the best way to do it. Of course there are always a number of ways too skin a cat. (I've actually gotten yelled at by cat owners for using that phrase.. )

No, I'm talking about the opening in the screen.. not the attachment of the screen to the van (velcro does great for that).

worst mistake ever was pulling injectors with 220,000 miles on them and replacing only the seals, then to realize not to shortly after injectors were going bad and having to replace them all again....I think the best phrase for this thread is....Do it NICE! or do it TWICE! always worth it to spend the extra for new or quality upgrades.
