What's your excuse?

What is your excuse for not getting out there?

The lady in front is of my sister-in-law's mother, who is 90. We are in a Land Rover driving on unimproved roads in the mountains of Colombia. Seriously bumpy stuff. She makes that trip at least a few times a year. Puts me to shame.

It's always encouraging to see a Senior set the standard - At 89 my grandmother had her bicycle taken from her (safety concerns), then at 92 she married her boyfriend of 8 years.
I can only hope to match that kind of energy & enthusiasm.

Ive got over 50 nights in our van this year so far. Were they epic trips to popular places? No. Unfortunately my wife’s new disability keeps us close to home. 2-3 hours is all she can take in any vehicle no matter how nice it rides. The bumpier the road, the less she can take.

One income keeps us close to home. Cold weather keeps her from being able to go period. It sucks, but that’s our life now. Her words “I’d rather be stuck in bed out in the mountains, than stuck in bed at home.”. Love that girl we basically take what we can get when we can get it. Hopefully someday she can get her life back and we can start ticking off some of the wonderful places we’ve seen posted on this forum and others. For now local trips close to home is what we can swing.

Shenrie, I'm sorry to hear that. Thoughts and prayers for a full recovery.

No good ones, that's for sure... other than working out priorities.

It sounds like she's got a great spirit! Maybe you can stumble on some overlooked local gems in your camping. Hope she can recover and you can have more adventures.

Fixed. Thanks for the reminder. I closed out our charter business a while ago.
