Re: Where's Angel?
Angel: Tire Chains Stores In Anchorage with Truck tire chains: Johnson's Tire Service; Six Robeless or have them fed-exed from Tirechains.com to my Anchorage address. PM me for that address and ph# we are near downtown and the road south. The Cassair is a fabulous drive but with all these north coast storms it could have a lot of snow.

If you haven't taken the Cassiar Highway, it is highly recommended! It is mostly a well maintained gravel road. Gravel is much better than pavement in the snow. Plus, you can take the Hyder turnoff and visit the most southerly town in Alaska. And get some great fudge while you are there.
But, no matter which way you choose, have a safe trip home.

I second the Cassiar Hwy, beautiful drive. But i was just on it a couple weeks ago and it was all paved.

Re: Where's Angel?
I am in Vancouver now.
Dana and John, I would love to see you and park over night at your place on Wed. night if that works for you. I am visiting a friend in Bellingham tonight. I left a message on your phone and will e mail you.
Thanks Spenard and every on for all the info.
I took the Al-Can instead of the Cassier.. I stopped at the Tessa River Outfitters, near Fort Nelson, where I learned to make Banick (Indian fry bread). They had a report of snow on the Cassier, so, I was glad I did not take the Cassier. I have driven it before and it is beautiful.
I could not find cables in Fairbanks or Anchorage. Six Robblees' has them for my tires @ $122.33 a pair. Chains are cheaper, stronger and heavier and I do not want to carry them. I will rethink if it is even worth getting cables when I can just sit out any storm. Some times you have to carry something or the Highway patrol will not let you go on up the mountain, even though you will not need them. What do you all think?

Re: Where's Angel?
I have a set of cables in my van. Never used them, never plan on using them. But, sometimes in the winter the Rangers won't let you into Yosemite without chains for your vehicle.
