Yosemite history (my back yard)

(Site admin) Steve here is the link you requested.

http://www.yosemite.ca.us/library/big_oak_flat_road/

Although this book is from the 50s, it is very interesting from a historical standpoint. I have found the book at some of the ranger stations in the area around Yosemite but you copy off this site if you wish.
Enjoy.
Dave.

Thanks Dave. I took a look at the site the other day and it is really informative of the history of the area. I try to go to Yosemite once a year or so and may plan a winter trip (Feb or March). I want to use that link as a resource.

Maybe we can get a few owners up for a run from Coulterville to Yosemite. It's a good trail (unless the fires reached it) that can be done in a few hours weather permitting. Another good run is Bull Creek, sometimes called Burma Grade.
Dave.

I've thought about such a trip with a sidetrip to Trumbull Peak but, the last time I checked, the Forest Service still hadn't "brushed" the trail which means a lot of potential scratches....

This was about as far as I got on the Burma Grade Road in April. Brush stopped me. Found an alternate route to Coulterville.

Hey, I could do with a knowledgeable guide or two to this area. (Dave - Jack or ...) anyone available for a run over the weekend of October 11?

So Charlie you never made it to Anderson Valley? At this point in time I am open that week and will have to find out if my buddy's wife is gonna let him go I will try to check out the area for where the fire ended up. The sourthern loop road into Trumble about destroyed my vans paint job and would have taken major brushing to make the loop. I think the forest service uses the northern side but will have to ask at buck meadows. Last year they said there were no field trips out there. I'll PM you in a few weeks. The Coulterville road should be wide open. I should be able to make a day run if camped up on Tioga Pass. It would be cool if we could get a few vans up there.

We might be interested and available. We are headed out this morning to Mammoth Lakes and Convict Lake for the week. I'll check in with you both when we get back.
