4x4 on 40s!!!

Well she is finally fully 4x4, christened her with some mud therapy, broke passenger mirror, shattered drivers window on a tree and gave her some new dents!!! Then spent a weekend at the beach relaxing!!! Next up is my new remote mount trans cooler set-up and moving the bulletproof diesel oil cooler out of the way for a winch bumper.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuude!!!!!
That so totally rocks......

Nice job man.
I was wondering the other day if anyone had successfully built a van that could conquer the Rubicon Trail.......yours looks up to the task, brother!!!

Congrats. You must be just buzzing with the coolness of that thing right now.

(**Seriously. Side note --- does anyone know.....
Has a 4x4 van ever been run through the Rubicon?
That would be so rad.)

Unfortunate for sure, Understandable though if the damage was caused by the secondary Driver ???- 5th picture you posted

I don't think it's that rare. I've spent a bunch of winters in Homewood at the base of the Tahoe side of the trail. In the spring of low snow years we'd bike and hike along some of the trail. I saw all sorts of full sized vehicles head in there. IIRC 33" tires are considered the minimum and lockers are highly recommended.

It's more technical driving than I care to do, so I've never tried it. Riding a mountain bike on it is hard enough.

A friend rescued and semi-restored this iconic 'Baja VW Bus' from Ensenada, and ran the Rubicon Trail with it. I saw the video, 6yrs ago maybe? They went with an experienced group, stacked rocks, took bypasses. Only sustained a small rocker dent.

Love it. Absolutely ridiculous but in a way that makes me giggle.
