Aluminess 1 Deer 0...

Well, we've been all over the San Juans this last week and yesterday as we finally started our way north, Agnes and her Aluminess bits proved her worth. Doing 60ish a bit north of Ridgeway a full size Mama Deer decided at the last minute to make a run for it. Needless to say we have one less deer out there. Didn't even have time to brake, I nailed her and that is that. Pretty DAMN impressed with the Aluminess front end. Without it, there would be no doubt that Agnes would need some solid reconstruction surgery. Not sure if you can tell but the lower half of the bumper got pushed back a little and I lost the Hella driving light but that's it (well other than the hair/guts/blood on the side of the rig - thankfully found a car wash a few miles later)

Anyway to anyone on the fence deciding to pop for the Aluminess bumper - go for it. Definitely saved our beloved Agnes and her precious crew

Re: Aluminess 1 Deer 0...

the bumper is probably straight but the frame behind it is designed to give in a impact so it might be collapsed. frame shop could pull it out

Mmm, fresh roadkill meat, already tenderized.....good eatin'. Have wondered about the impact strength of the aluminess, good to know it can take something out without much damage to the rig if need be.....

Re: Aluminess 1 Deer 0...

Frame looks totally fine - the impact was more on the lower unsupported portion to the outside of the bumper mount and winch plate area.

Glad to here that all the passengers were safe. To bad about the deer.

Re: Aluminess 1 Deer 0...

Good to hear the Aluminess bumper held up. I too have one on my van and hopefully will never have a collision with Deer etc...
