Custom Ford Transit vans at SEMA...

https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedi ... mcase.html

From the press release:

For SEMA 2013, Ford challenged aftermarket customizers to show how the 2014 Transit Connect could take families and businesses further by imagining what is possible. The builders responded, with wild designs, cool custom features and over-the-top ideas.

Meet the stars of Vandemonium

Blood & Grease transformed a Transit Connect cargo van into a high-end fashion boutique on four wheels
CGS Motorsports created a mobile speed shop for the drag strip
eJudged repurposed a Transit Connect into a stylish mobile hot spot, loaded with technology for the road
Impulse Marketing & Media looks back to a simpler time; it transformed a Transit Connect cargo van into a baked goods delivery vehicle
K-Daddyz Kustomz created a mobile workplace for graphic design
LGE*CTS Motorsports turned a Transit Connect Wagon into a Cross Country cruiser complete with top-of-the-line technology
Mobsteel created the ultimate mobile billboard – a chopped and lowered Transit Connect cargo van promoting what Detroit Steel Wheel Company does best
Pentech Automotive turned a Transit Connect Wagon into a vehicle gamers can take on the road
Strange Motion designed a Transit Connect Wagon especially for its BMX team, with room to haul six bikes and six people
And there's more to come. Stay tuned for details on a yet-to-be-unveiled 10th customized Ford Transit Connect that will be on display at SEMA next month.

Ford Transit Custom in USA

Has anyone heard from Ford whether they are bringing to the USA the Ford Transit Custom van sold in the UK, Europe and Mexico? Any when would it be available in USA? It would make a great midi Class B camper.

Ford Transits have been available for over a year now. SMB is converting them and 4x4 is possible. Check out fordtransitusaforum.com.

A Ford Transit Custom test mule was spotted last May in Colorado during high altitude testing in full camo, but no subsequent word on production availability for the US. Spy shots at:

Is this the 2017 Ford Transit Custom commercial van? [Spied] - Truck News, Views and Real World Reviews

As a mid-sized unit in-between the Transit Connect and full sized Transit it would make a nice replacement for the old VW Westy size campers. But nothing official yet from Ford on the Custom for stateside.

A conversion company named Wellhouse is creating camper conversions of the Ford Transit Customs.(in Europe) I looked them up in the 'ol interwebs and found that the body size of the LWB transit Customs are kinda close to the Ford E Series RB vans 08 and older.

Here is their site: http://www.wellhouseleisure.com/ford/ford-videos/

Transit Custom

Wheelbase 129.9 in(LWB)
Length 210.2 in(LWB)
Width 78.2 in
Height1,922–2,017 mm (75.7–79.4 in)(low roof)
2,280–2,381 mm (89.8–93.7 in)(high roof)

E series RB

Wheelbase 138 in
Regular: 212 in
Length 79.3–79.9 in
Height80.7–84.1 in

Might be a good option for the sprinter crowd that doesn't need the full blown size of a sprinter and wants their van to fit in a garage. Not sure what they have underneath from an off-road perspective.

The Wellhouse camper conversions look damn nice.

For comparison the smallest full-sized 2015-2017 Ford Transit, the low roof RWB is:

Wheelbase 130"
Length 219.9"
Width without mirrors 81.3"
Height 83.6

So, a tad bigger than the largest Transit Custom, and only slightly bigger than an E Series RB.

(the full size Transits come in two wheelbases, three lengths, and three heights; the smallest is not much bigger than a RB E Series, and available now).

These are on the short wheel base I think. Actually don't look bad. Wonder if Quigley is doing the 130 wb? This one has the 3.5L motor and list price of $55K

I checked the Quigley website and they are doing the 130". Guess you could buy this and take it to Quigley for an after the purchase conversion. They were doing those on E350's for a while.

IndeedQuigley is doing both wheelbases. The ecoboost 3.5L looks to be a great gas engine, with more torque than their diesel. My short low roof 3.5L Transit is currently being converted to 4x4 by Quigley, destined thereafter for a CCV poptop and a SMB interior.

For more on Quigley Transits see near the end of:

Great overall forum.

That low roof height for the Transit Custom would presumably allow addition of a pop-top with vents and solar while still fitting under a standard US 7ft garage door. That would be a nice option to have for those in urban or HOA controlled housing areas.
