Custom mobile mount + bluetooth

One of my favorite upgrades to the Beast: A custom milled powder coated aluminum faceplate from Front Panel Express with #8-32 threaded AMPS pattern device mount (I'm using an iPhone mount from proclipusa.com) and an insert hole for an NVX bluetooth controller knob all hard wired and installed in the Ford E-series upfitter slot (I did not have the upfitter option - just the change holder).

Now in California, we're supposed to have our cell phones mounted to the dash if we want to use it. That looks like a clean solution.

Because the hands-free law was so successful? Just about everywhere I drive, there are countless people still holding their phones to their ear without any fear of repercussion.

Herb
Yeah it's a similar law to the windshield wiper/headlights law.

What's that? No wipers without lights?

If using wipers, the law says your lights must be on. But driving around in all this weather lately you'd never know. Most people don't turn their lights on during rain in daylight conditions. Really it's more of an issue with older vehicles that don't have full time running lights even though I think the law says all your regular lights are required to be on. Now they're requiring cell phones be mounted on the dash (only in specific places) and that you can swipe the phone to answer and no more. They'll probably nail me for changing the volume control on my radio.
