Not entirely true.

Here's the DMV's 'full Monty' on the subject;
https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detai ... 2/c4/26708

and here's the specific exclusion/limitation on a portable GPS;
"...(12) A portable Global Positioning System (GPS), which may be mounted in a seven-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield farthest removed from the driver or in a five-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield nearest to the driver and outside of an airbag deployment zone, if the system is used only for door-to-door navigation while the motor vehicle is being operated...."

There are other provisions for electronic Toll Passes, etc.

....and you can thank our nice CARB lawmakers for those wonderful gas cans that manage to pour more fuel on your shoes than in your tank.....&$^%*%*!!!!.

Now available nationwide since every other state now requires these works of art as well!

...Sorry, I digress....

That is really sweet! It's got me thinking how much wasted space there is in my rear Reunel. If only I could cut holes in something that thick.

Re: Custom rear bumper almost finished!!

Looking good! You'll need weep holes in the bottom for drainage.

Re: Custom rear bumper almost finished!!

Add some weep holes soon as i get it done and installed.
I also need to add a wiring access hole with a grommet for led lights etc.

Re: Custom rear bumper almost finished!!

Which way is up BTW?

Looking at the pictures again, I wonder if I'd want the hatches to default to open of closed if left unlatched. -- I'm not actually sure of the correct answer here. I guess it would depend on whether you want to make a failure obvious or minimize potential damage if one does occur.

Re: Custom rear bumper almost finished!!

Hatches are hinged downwards.
