Deadman recovery anchor

Kickstarter has a light weight recovery anchor project. It is a slick idea and much lighter than a Pull Pal. No affiliation with myself.

If you have to dig a hole, why not just go old school and just barrie the spare? No coast and you already carry it nothing extra to pack, will hold up better than that thing. Just my opinion.

Agreed. And all other uses they show can be done with a normal tow strap.

The possibility of the "spare tire" coming out of the hole under a load and becoming a missle hazard is a cost that could end someones life.

When winching you do not use a stretching snatch and grab set up, more of a constant force pull. Yes still lots of potential energy but with a proper set up has a blanket on cable or other type line damper. I'm still going with the wheel over nylon cloth, but then I have a pull-pal and lots of different straps, chain, and pullys all load rated and traction boards. And don't use my van to pull stumps. Go prepared or don't go.

You asked pal, i merely gave a "possible" outcome as to why some may want to avaoid burying the spare. Not everyone on these forums is an expert at self recovery.

I've always loved that video. It's funny when people get out their phone to video anything involving a tree/stump/whatever. It almost guarantees a disaster.
