Thanks for the welcome.
Couple of specs about my new van (from the orig window sticker, which was included, along with 3/4" of other reciepts):
Came from Ford as a 1998 Superwagon XLT
4.10 rear axle w/ limited slip
Factory privacy glass all around
Quigley 4X4 installed when new at Quigley in PA
Ford calls the color "Light Saddle Clearcoat Metallic." Mrs. Esmi calls it "Dirt/Bag Brown." This is an important distinction, as I failed to garner her opinion or support before I brought home the van.
Orig equip from Adventurewagen:
110 watts permanently-mounted solar panels on roof
53-watt portable solar panel ("booster") in case inside van
2X 6volt house battery system
12v water pump with filter
Permanent roof-mounted solar water heater, for inside or outside use
Small furnace
No hot water heater, but you warm water in the kettle on the stove, then pour it into the insulated water tank above the cabinet, and it gravity feeds down to the hot side of the kitch sink. It sounds hokey, but it is really a cool no-moving-parts idea.
In the 300 miles I have thus far driven it, I notice:
Suspension feels bloated.
I don't get to drive by many gas stations -- I pretty much have to stop at all of them (12-13 mpg so far).
Slight binding sensation from rear in low speed sharp turns.
Shift easily into and out of 4-High and 4-Low. I can feel the 4x4 engage, but have not tested it in poor traction conditions.
I am really very pleased with this.
