Imogene Pass via Sportsmobile

I was cleaning out some old files and found some raw video from the '06 Rally, so I put together this short video and posted to youtube.

This was the last day and a group of us did Imogene Pass from Ouray to Telluride. Most go up and over from Telluride so this was a nice change and a slightly more challenging run.

For those who may not be familiar, this is a well traveled 4WD route in the San Juan Mtns of Colorado, topping out at the summit around 13,100 feet above sea level. Nothing too hairy but a few obstacles near the top the SMBs handled with ease. Some of you may recognize a couple of the vans, even your own perhaps. Badger, Yellow Fella, and others in here.

Wow, thanks for posting the video. Imogene Pass is definately on my to-do list someday (as is the Alpine Loop).

Wow, what a cliffhanger. I drove a road like that around Estes Park CO many years ago, it wasn't a 4WD road but it was a 1-lane dirt road perched on the edge of a cliff, winding up the side of a mountain. No guardrail. I made the journey in a 1986 Hyundai Excel hatchback. Definitely pegged my "fear of heights" meter...

I saw that video on Youtube before I found this thread. Great video! It freaked me out in the beginning when I saw how far up you were driving - w/ no guardrails! I'd be crapping my shorts. I'm too used to road protection out here on the East Coast I guess. LOL.

Wow, excellent vid. After seeing that exposure, I can drop that one from my to-do list. I'm not great with heights and my wife is absolutely petrified.

It is when you're used to having guardrails up on anything with a drop of 36" or higher. And I think that video shows a drop higher than 36".

I guess we (i.e. DelDOT) doesn't have any sense of adventure around here.
