Latest piece of the puzzle arrives

Hi;

A while back I thanked everyone here on the forum for their commitment to helping fellow members and singled out one in particular who volunteered to check out a 4x4 van for me.

Well it finally arrived this week after being shipped 2600 miles. It is exactly as was described by the forum member/volunteer and I am quite happy to see it.

You may also recall our quiet little getaway weekend where Pntyrmvd and I flat towed an old Sporty home from Georgia.

So here we go.

This 1982 Dodge 3/4 ton SMB EB.

Will be gutted and the roof and some contents will be transferred into this 1984 4x4 Dodge 1 ton EB.

The engine from this 1993 Dodge B250.

And the transmission and radiator from this 1991 Dodge B250.

Will also be swapped into the 4x4 1 ton.

I've had a blast driving the 4x4 through the snowy fields here at the Ranch. I can't wait to crawl down the trails to some hidden sites.

The conversion to 4x4 plate.

The GVWR is 8510 lbs and that is about as high as any Dodge van ever built. I will weigh it first and keep the build up to date in that section of the forum. Note the full floater Dana 60 rear axle.

Why Dodge? Well I drove one into a deep, empty irrigation ditch a while ago and walked away. Also I am swimming in Dodge van parts. Lastly no emission testing here on pre 1986 light trucks.

I'm still looking for a name for this van. Please post your ideas. I'd like to be able to get a licence plate that reflects the name.

And again thanks to all who have helped get these two vans here. This forum is fantastic because its' members are fantastic.

And thanks to my love, Pntyrmvd, who puts up with all this mechanical nonsense.

Regards,

Gavin

Van Frankendodge seems appropriate.

Just for completeness I think you need to take something from that tow vehicle.

Didn't Johnny Cash do a song about this? One part at a time!

Re: Latest piece of the puzzle arrives

Hi;

Van Frankendodge it just might have to be. Eight digits on a vanity licence plate. Hmmm.

VNFRKDGE

VNFRKDOJ

FRAKNDOJ

FLNGBSTR

BIGLARRY

4X4 PIG

SPORTY B

As to the comment about putting something from the tow vehicle on it I suggest we paint the 4x4 van white and recreate the teal green stripes from the 96 tow van.

One part at a time. Johnny Cash theme at the Ranch for sure. Pntyrmvd would certainly like to see the van count here get below 6.

Keep the name ideas coming.

Regards,

Gavin

Hi;

Scotty you are assuming that I have an ego and would actually put the plate GAVAN on my pseudo Sporty.

I'll order it first thing in the morning!

Regards,

Gavin

Lol Gavin, it would be funny to your friends and family who know your name, but lost on everyone else. Anyway, go for it if you like it!
