Re: Lucky

Rob,

You got a nice one. Won't want to stuff the Husaberg it there and beat it like the old van but it looks ready for another Baja trip!

Congratulations!

Re: Lucky

Made it out for a quick over night camp/shake down run. Everything worked perfectly.. except the fridge was a little too cold and froze the deviled eggs a little!

Re: Lucky

Can't wait to see this in person, but it will have to wait as we depart for Alaska next week. We are definitely planning on Baja for the 1000 though, but hopefully we can put together a trip prior. Nice rig............Arctic Traveller

Re: Lucky

Dear Sportsmobile:

Please don't ever again screw through the floor leaving sharp screw points right above the already very hard to reach left rear upper shock mount.

Thanks,

Me

Re: Lucky

I enlisted some friends to help me out this weekend, as I needed to swap bumpers and shocks between vans, old and new. And I have a broken arm.

But we got the Reunel bumpers from my new van moved to the old van, the Aluminess front from old van to new van, the hitch from old to new (as the Reunel has integrated hitch), and new shock mounts welded on new van (I installed Bilstein 5160's that I had, but the buggered up Quigley lower mounts were screwed up, so we cut them off and welded new ones on). And I swapped the grills and headlights from old to new and new to old. Now I just need to clean up the old van next weekend and I should have it for sale, and then I can concentrate on the new van!

Old grill and bumper on new van:

Missing rear bumper and old hitch on new van (it will remain missing until my custom Aluminess shows up in the post):

My buddy grinding off old shock mounts:

Thanks Poll, Wop, Allen and GVT.

Damn Robb, you gotta stop hurting yourself, it seems like it's becoming a habit. .........Arctic

Re: Lucky

Ouch but worth it. Did you have Aluminess beef up the hinges?

No! Are the hinges crap? What should I ask for? They haven't started building mine.

They're building me a custom box and adding custom light cutouts.
