My shiney new underfloor storage box
I recently ordered, received and installed the underfloor storage box that I got from Sam @ North Left Coast. I'll have to say, he does such a great job that it was a shame I had to hide it under the van.
It was a bit scary for me cutting a big hole in the floor of the van, but following Sam's advice & reading through the other posts on this forum helped make it quite a bit easier.
I added a LED license plate lite & switch to the inside of the box and had to modify the U-Joint Off Road aluminum skid plate to accommodate the box, but everything went fairly smoothly. I also had Sam make the box 2" shorter in depth in order to get it under the skid plate.
All said & done, it's well worth the investment to have that much additional storage space.

Nice job! I don’t know what I’d do without my underfloor storage.

Do you guys know if anyone uses these for extra batteries? I know a lot of guys will put their batteries on the underside of their rigs but I don't like the idea of having it exposed/easily accessible to outsiders.

Great job on the install. Just think of all the goodies you can now purchase to fill it up...

For me, because I have the skid plate that covers the whole area where the spare tire was, I have enough room for up to 4 (not that I'll do 4) batteries right in front of the storage box. They will at least be protected by the skid plate, but still kinda exposed.

I hear ya... Now I'm trying to figure out what I'm actually gonna put in that cavernous box. Because I have the Aluminess rear storage box where most, if not all, of my recovery gear will go, I'm most likely going with stuff I want to have on hand, but not necessarily needing to access all the time. Right now, I'm thinking snow chains, jack stands, extra tools & parts, Etc.
I'm also trying to keep weight distribution in mind...

Got it! I am highly considering going that route for battery storage
