My SMB Van

Hi All,

Long story short, I bought a SMB somewhat on a whim

I had just enough knowledge to be dangerous. I knew they were rare, and essentially a better vehicle than the VeeDub vans I love, wanted, and was researching. This popped up on CL so I scooped up this SMB without getting onto this forum and researching it.

I honestly don't know if I overpaid or not, but I am into it now (problems, joys, and all).

The rear Starcool AC doesn't work when plugged in, but works in conjunction with the engine AC. Potentially a pricey compressor replacement or AC repair.

The suspension/steering probably needs work.

The fridge kinda sorta works...sometimes.

I had a tire blow-out already, and now have two new tires. Otherwise, everything else seems to be working okay.

It is a 1995 Dodge 3500 with 133,000 miles, super clean interior, some body damage on the side doors.

What do these usually go for?

I have a ton of questions that I will post in the proper places when I get a chance. One quick one, is how much weight will the upper bed hold?

Until then....I am happy to be here. I love my van and the lifelong memories my family is already making

Elena

Welcome Elena. I can't answer your questions but someone here can. Sportsmobile should be able to give you the weight rating for the bed as they're all the same I'm pretty sure. It's strong though. 2 large adults easily. It's 3/4 ply so it might sag but I've never heard of one breaking.

Welcome to the addiction!

From personal experience the bed in mine held 415 lbs for 7 hours.
