A few new additions: Door Talon and a Ram Mount for an IPad that we use for nav and music.

The latest: Flooring

We've had our van for almost 7 years......and for at least 6 of those years I've been dreaming of getting rid of the stock, early 90's french blue carpet.

With all of our local mountains/communities on lock down this seemed like the time to do it. So, a few weekends ago I walked out to the van with a box cutter and cut a huge hole in the carpet. It was pretty abrupt but I figured at least that would commit me to doing it.

My parent's happened to be putting new flooring in their cabin so I grabbed a bunch of their current flooring and ordered new vinyl flooring for the cab.

While I had it torn apart I covered the floor/firewall/wheel wells with a bunch of 80mil Noico.

Behold!

Steering Damper

Installed a Bilstein steering damper over the weekend. Super easy install with the factory Ford brackets.

New additions: Hella lights on the bumper and another set on Vantage Optics A-Pillar mounts. Install went well on all of it. Getting the switches mounted where I wanted them required some cutting/grinding on the steel plate behind the plastic panel but it all worked out.

Hopefully the days of searching for a campsite with a flashlight out the window are a thing of the past.

Awning

New Thule awning. The bag on my old ARB awning was starting to get a little crispy and the all black case on this Thule was too much for me to resist.

New Rack Setup

I’ve been tinkering with a cargo/bike setup on the back of my van. I wanted something that could carry one bike and a decent amount of gear......all lockable and on a swing away. Here’s what I wound up with:

Kuat Pivot hitch mounted swing away
Thule T2 tray(just one complete tray)
Harbor Freight cargo carrier

I cut the cargo carrier down a bit to create room on the 2” spine for the Thule tray. Once that was sorted out I had a friend weld up the cut ends and sprayed the whole thing in Rustoleum bed liner.

Next I scrounged the aisles of Home Depot looking for lockable bins that would fit properly. These Plano bins are perfect. I bolted them to the rack and have padlocks for each one.

The jerry can wedges in between the two bins perfectly, just pure luck there.

How’s that bike rack holding up? Looks like a great idea! Good work.
