New V10 EB Owner

Been kicking around Expo but I'm starting to think this is where it's at for the Ford group. Flew out to Glendora, CA a couple weeks ago and brought back an 05 V10 EB with a Camburg Baja kit + front bumper, Con-fer rack, and only 54k miles (55k after the drive home).

I'm not super stoked on the rearward rake but we are trying to get a slot with Agile for a 4x4 conversion so I'm leaving it as-is for now.

We are transitioning from a built up FZJ80 + high top vanagon into a single vehicle, so this will be a combination of those 2. High top will come after 4x4 conversion if I can find something local, otherwise Fiberine is 2 hrs from Agile.

Taking it out to Moab next week to break it in properly and see what we can do with 2wd.

Well, I wondered who got this van, I was getting ready to leave my house to go down there, and got an Email, " the van is sold" I missed that one, good luck with the van.

I had a couple vans get snagged before I could get a chance to look at them, so as soon as my wife stumbled across this one I called the guy and bought a plane ticket. The catch was that the entirety of the Rockies were in the middle of a blizzard so I took the long way home across AZ and NM.

Edit: after a 19 hr drive home, the working name so far is 'Moby the trail whale'.

That's good to hear. It's a little spendier than some of the other conversions and certainly more than DIY, but TTB seems like a great mix of some of the benefits of IFS with strength more towards the solid axle.

Congrats on the new van, I spent a lot of time staring at it on Craigslist!

I may be interested in the Camburg kit when you do the 4x4 conversion, keep me in mind if you want to sell it.

Will do, and that was the plan - sell it once it gets taken off at Agile. It's the 'good' baja kit with the bent arms, not the drop bracket.

We are targeting August to drop it off, so that puts it at a September pick up, give or take. That would out especially well if we head to Fiberine right afterward since they're in Wilmington.

Not speaking for B.Rock but yes what you see on the 60/40 doors is an external lock, aka "puck lock". They're from a few years past, do a bit of reversible damage as they require holes drilled through the door shell.

They're most effective when you have a solid partition between the front and rear cargo areas, something a person cannot fit through. Front doors have always been very vulnerable in most every known configuration, even the most sophisticated alarm systems just barely able to keep thieves outta our stuff.

That style external lock has a worthy updated version called Slick Locks: https://www.slicklocks.com/ Before switching to side/rear door powered dead bolt locks I had a set of those----easy damage-free installation using existing door latch hardware.

Thanks for the info. I've been considering installing deadbolt locks to add a small amount of security if we were to leave the van parked somewhere isolated while on an adventure (like parking at the top of Mineral Bottom switchbacks for WRIAD). It occurred to me that deadbolts are "hidden" and wouldn't act as a theft deterrent. That said, I'm not sure I'd want to deal with the hassle of a puck lock with any regularity.
