Thomson Causway on the East shore of the Mississippi in Il...on the way back from a Cub game...see the barge in first shot...counted 7 the day we were eating lunch leaving...nice....

Question? Does it count "camping" if you're on a concrete pad? lolol?

A rough 4x4 low range descent into Cottonwood Basin in the White Mountains of eastern California. In image 1 you can see my van at the camp spot. The other pic is the view in the opposite direction.

Beautiful Jeffrey. I've always meant to get my van into there since I explored the Whites on my bike years ago.

Approximately how long is the drive in to Cottonwood Basin? If you have done Coyote Flats, is Cottonwood Basin a lot rougher drive?

I'd like to explore the White Mountains soon, but my usual carpool dummy gets a little batty after too much off road. We did Coyote Flats recently and I think that was about his limit bouncing around wise.

I've done Coyote Flat, though in my LandRover. Was never sure if the SMB would get by that one tree with large low branches. Road to Cottonwood is definitely rougher than Coyote. Low range 4x4 the whole way. Two places that require a three point turn for an RB body. It's hard to guess the distance, maybe 1 to 2 miles.
