SMB in Arches

While planning a trip to Arches, I was exploring the area using Google Maps Street View. As I "buzzed passed" the viewing area for Courthouse Towers, something caught my eye. I backed up and found this. Anyone on here?

You can't go to Moab without seeing a half dozen Sportsmobiles like that.

Interesting. We're going to be in Arches this March-April time frame. Any suggestions?

First time in Moab? It is redneck Disneyland so you should be able to find many many ways of enjoying the area. I don't get too creative with camp sites as I want access to lots of play areas so I camp close to town and not very remote. Downside is that those camp sites are usually packed with people in the post pandemic world

Moab/Arches was a mad house when we were there this past September. We hit a few highlights then bounced. Grand Escalante, near Spooky and Peek-A-Boo slot canyons, was better even though there were still too many side by sides for our liking. We spent a week in the Sawtooth Recreation Area in Idaho hitting free natural hot springs and really great free camping. There was still the occasional vehicle but it was fantastic. All the fire damage didn’t bother us but the locals were disappointed with how parts of the area have burned over the years. We imagine it was even more stunning but it was still stunning to us.

There's still a lot of quiet places near Moab, just not usually in it. I'd recommend getting there before school gets out and families start coming in and I wouldn't go anytime around Easter when the Jeep Safari takes place unless you really, really like Jeeps. I think that's the busiest time of the year for Moab. As others have suggested, get off the beaten path. Needles district of Canyonlands, Beef Basin, LaSal's, Escalante, etc. are better IMO.

There's a couple 4x4 roads in and out of Arches - anyone done them in an EB van? I saw them the one time we actually went into Arches but had no idea where they went, how long they were, or how rough they were.

Edit: also curious if anyone has done the kokopelli route in a van as well. Save for rose garden hill anyway, I'm assuming you'd bypass that.
