+1! That rear wheel looks really stuck! How'd you get out?

Yo, give us the rest of the story. Pull Pal?

Re: Stuck pics..
I intentionally omitted that part of the story. Errrr, short answer is that I turned to the guy sitting next to me and asked him to put down his beer and “double check” that the hubs were locked... then, quite miraculously, we crawled right out of there. Here is another angle -

Re: Stuck pics..
Nice Ken, that makes me feel better as I have never been that deep in sand. Were you aired down?

Re: Stuck pics..
Those small utility pickup trucks are hell trying to get them out of your oversize Terex tires. Sort of like getting corn on the cob kernels stuck between your teeth, except much larger.

Maybe one of his hubs wasn't working and he didn't realize it...

Re: Stuck pics..
I've been doing some work in Nevada and decided to do an over nighter at Pyramid Lake on the Paiute Indian Reservation. Come to find out they have some pretty soft ground there.
No cell service...no one around for miles and 3 hours later of digging by hand I pulled loose.
At this point my rear axle and under floor storage were buried. I had to crawl completely under the van to to clear the sand from both.

Re: Stuck pics..
Actually I was just in 2WD cruising just fine until I stopped to take a picture and then the deed was done. I got back in put it in gear while I was fumbling with the camera and like a spaz it took me a second or two to realize my rear wheels were spinning and I wasn't going anywhere. Then I got that sinking feeling...literally!

At least there's no tide coming in at Pyramid Lake beaches. Now that's when I start panicking!

Re: Stuck pics..
Txn2daBone - we just got back from Pyramid Lake on Saturday (camped on 9 mile beach for 3 nights, I'll post a trip report soon). You are correct that there are some very soft spots there. I always put my vehicle in 4wd as soon as I see sand, even though I don't need it most of the time.
Just curious...in those pictures you posted, it doesn't appear like you aired down your tires. Did you try this before spinning deeper and/or digging yourself out?
