Anybody use land anchors for recovery?
Never wheeled a rig this heavy, but have used these for lighter vehicles with great results.
I've been stuck plenty of times in other rigs, but one of my better stories involves getting stuck about 20 miles from Puerto Penasco in Mexico trying to find an estuary in my dad's (borrowed!) 2wd F-150 in the late 80's. Took a wrong turn down a track freshly bladed into the dunes and immediately buried it up to the axle. Tried digging, no go. Walked back to the highway and hitched back into town (with the scary Clampett's, but that is another story). Campground owners told me what it would cost in cash to get recovered and as a poor college student with no cash, I didn't know what to do. Sat there for an hour or so trying to figure it out. Low and behold, my cousin rolls up looking for me. Heard I was down there and just happened to pop by. And he was driving a Samurai, no less. I had my doubts, but he was game, so we ran back out to the truck and that little Samurai yanked that F-150 out with a whole lot of engine knock, but very little drama!
