Time to hang it up.

After 58 years of camping,
due to health, we have to quit.
Sold our 1990 Sportsmoble after 22 yrs of use.
It was a sad day to see it go down the road.
We had many great & wonderful trips in it.
It has been a great run.
It begin with a 1959 Ford station wagon.
Using it as camper, with a trip to Colo.
Follow by a 65 Ford SW, with a tent.
Then a 1973 Ford SW, with a 15ft trailer.
Then a 83 Ford van, follow by our 1990 Sportsmoble.
We have seen most of the USA and
had plans to see it all, but time ran out.
What we will miss, is all the friendly people
that we encounter on our trips.
Many thanks to the forum community
for their advice, photos and info.
Be safe on your trips & have a great time.

Best wishes for the next chapter. Your write up made me tear up. My Great Uncle had a great run, passed 11 days shy of 110 years old. It was his travels and experiences he treasured most, and his sharing of those instilled the importance of creating those during our life .

I hope you have a chance to share your love of camping, experiences and meeting people with your family and friends for a long, long time. Those are truly special. I also hope you have an opportunity to have your experiences and stories recorded for the generations to come. Many will never know or have a chance to see/ experience what you two have.

Here is an interview of him when he was 108:

At 109 he said - " We are not here for that long, enjoy life".

If anyone wants to see/hear more of him, please PM me and I will send you a link and password to an incredible compilation of interviews, pictures and history of his life. It would be great to see and listen to yours as well. Peace

Thanks for sharing Glenn and Peggy. Those are great pics and surely great memories. After reading this just after catching up on the #vanlife conundrum post I’m assured that the van (RV, trailer, motorhome, or whatever) is just the vehicle. It doesn’t matter how we do it, let’s all just get out there and do it!

Thanks for sharing Glen. It sounds like you and Peggy were able to get out enjoy the back roads of this great country. Your story is further encouragement for the rest of us to lock the doors on our homes and head for the hinterlands. Think I'll follow your lead, grab the puppy and take the Sportsmobile out tonight in your and Peggy's honor.

Best of luck to you!
