I'm still about 50-50 on this whole idea.. Drove my Ford yesterday and and it's a really nice van! But I still can't haul a dirtbike in it!
So work commences on the Sprinter.. First things first, need to get some sound insulation on in the back.. Huge empty cavity of metal is a bit noisy. And so enter a few boxes of Noico 80mm sound deadening. It's easy to install, until you roll it. They sell you a roller that's a little larger than an inch, and every piece has to be rolled with a not-insignificant amount of pressure.. I was closed up in the van sweating like a pig, but didn't want to open the doors because of all the fire smoke in the air.
Anyway, all done, most every panel covered except where I might put windows in..

I just covered all the walls in Noico as well, there are better J rollers out there that make the job easier. I also used a few of my plastic door panel pulls, especially the small curved one, to get into all the little crevices.
For insulation, I highly recommend the thinsulate with the black scrim backing, and use a can of adhesive to stick it to the walls. This stuff not only provides thermal insulation but provides a fair bit of acoustic absorption as well, it’s not cheap, but it works and is really nice to work with, no more itchy fiberglass!

Nice, Congrats! I drive my transit daily and have found that on long trips (3+ hours) I don't feel nearly as tired when I reach my destination as I used to in my E-Series. Once you drive the sprinter for a while I bet going back to the E series will reveal how much you actually have to drive without realizing the amount of effort it takes.

So I think I’m going to sell the Sprinter.. not really through any fault of its, but more because the thought of selling my Ford 7.3 SMB makes me break out in hives (sort of just kidding).
Also the thought of starting over with a new van seems daunting.
Sprinter is cool, definitely beats the Ford in many aspects... but I just don’t think I can quit the old van.

Ya, welcome back from the brink! Believe me, I really understand where you’re coming from, I was torn, if only for a moment.
