The Wind River White Water Festival was held yesterday. The Wind River is a Class IV+ V- run in Southern Washington that is a lot of fun. The main event of the festival were the races. There were several classes and divisions of races. There were hard shell kayay races, raft races and catboat races. I'm not the racing type so I always end up on the river safety team. I parked my cat in an eddy at the bottom of the main drop in a rapid called Rams Horn and waited for the carnage to start. It was a blast watching the hard shell kayakers go deep in the main drop. It wasn't long before one got sucked back into the hole and got worked. That's were the fun started for me. I was out of my eddy chasing swimmers down the river. What a BLAST!
I had a long talk about vans with fellow forum member CarringB. Here are a couple pictures of vans at the event.
