Re: 2010 Central California Fall Meetup

We can only go the weekend of the 23rd.

I'm partial to Hope Valley as well off of Hwy 88 right past Carson Pass (close to South Tahoe). The aspens up there that time of year are amazing. People take day trips from Sacramento and the valley just to look at the trees. The Carson River runs right through it and there's tons of fishing in either Carson River or Red Lake.

We've seen a lot of pine trees this summer and would love to see some colorful deciduous trees while still enjoying the mountains.

Come up to our neck of the woods!

Re: 2010 Central California Fall Meetup

Well I'm still looking at week of the 20th and prefer somewhere in pine trees. Looks like the 395 crowd is ahead. I might be able to meet at different weekends as an overnight trip.

Seems like there are several 2WD rigs so I'm thinking most will want a campground of some type???

I don't know much about the 395 area much less disperse camping around there.

Saddlebag lake is small and quite a ways from 395 but nice. Not sure when it closes.
Leavitt lake is too rough for 2wd and so is laural lakes.
Virginia and Trumbull are fairly nice. I think twin lakes also has a campground.
Convict Lake is a target, but I don't know how busy it is around there.
A buddy talked about Deer Mtn but they were in 4x4's.

If we do pick the 395 zone during the 20th, after the meet I'll probably make my way back to Leavitt and any 4x4's that are willing are welcome to join me up there for a few days.

Re: 2010 Central California Fall Meetup

Still looks like a virtual tie. Also, most of the people that have offered a date like the weekend of the 23rd. Its a no-go for me but don't let that stop someone else from taking the reins and organizing the event for that weekend. I'll just come by the following weekend and make sure everyone cleaned up after themselves.

Really, it ain't going to happen unless someone steps up.
