That pink sand beach swallowed up my SMB last year. First time getting stuck in the sand with this vehicle. I had followed some tracks down to the beach and was making slow but steady headway until I bogged down. What I didn't realize until too late was that for every six inches forward, I was sinking an inch deeper into that beautiful shell sand...
After digging out, airing down to 10 psi and winching to a buried spare tire we were out and back up on more solid ground.

How was it driving back up the sandy trail from the beach with the arch and sea lions?

Yes, I imagine it could! I fear those coarse-sand beaches for that reason. That beach is pretty coarse being made up of those shell bits. I didn't drive any farther out onto the beach than you see in my photo.

Someday I know I'm going to have to use that bury-your-spare-tire trick.

Not bad. I was a little worried committing to going down as it looked pretty steep from the top, but the sand was decent, and I was nice and aired down. I wavered for a minute at the top before taking the plunge. I did see that there was room at the bottom to get up some momentum, which I ended up doing. I bounced my way back up rather than trying to crawl slowly and really test the traction.

Yes, I was there with a buddy in his loaded down Tundra a few years back. We got stuck a little ways down that hill & I have since been leery of trying it in the van. Good to know you made it back up aired down.
I found a nice Danforth anchor a few weeks ago and stowed it in the under-carriage storage box. I figure it will make a decent pull-pal type anchoring point & plan to test it out on our next trip in June.

There's also a beautiful spot on the rocks overlooking the south end of that cove I've got my eye on...
