Re: Anza Borrego over New years (Was Mojave)

We camped in that exact same spot last time we were there - looks like a great group and wonderful time.

Camp before being rousted by the ranger.

Let's hear the story. The Anza Borrego rangers seem to be a little over enthusiastic about their jobs sometimes.

Yes the ranger showed and started with a attitude but was great time with the young one so we gave him a little room.

Herb

Well, when he first pulled up he had his lights going and got on the PA asking for everyone's license and registration. We thought he was kidding......then swaggered into camp with a bit of an attitude, saying at least 8 of us were too far off of the wash/road, that we should have checked in at the ranger station first, and that the dogs needed to be on leashes. etc.

Then some time passed & I have no idea what happened but he mellowed out a bit and we took a group photo with Ranger Rick front/center. .....and then we all had a big group hug... (just kidding on the group hug but you get the idea...)

In the end we had to move a bunch of vans and park them on the edge of the wash/fire road and cover all of the tire tracks in camp.

Thank God he was there to protect the sand from that motley crew.

Re: Anza Borrego over New years (Was Mojave)

The good: looks like a great time! Totally jealous!

The rant: WTF? What does that ranger have to complain about? Looks like you're in the middle of the desert to me. Too far off the road? Huh? Are you gonna kill the grass? You think a struggling state economy would be happy to have you in their state parks but I guess not there. What is the world coming to.

Still glad you guys are having a great time. Still jealous.
