From the thumbnail the little fish looks like the pectoral fin of the whale. At first I thought I was looking at a profile of the whole thing!

Epic. And awesome.

Out of curiosity, how much of your route was planned and how much was felt out as you went?

Re: Baja 2014 Trip Report

Did you do any fishing? We did really well at the south end of Bahia Guadalupe from where you took pictures of the ocotillo fence and mud flat.
We're going to be digging for ingredients for some clam linguini in that mudflat in a few weeks...

Re: Baja 2014 Trip Report

I don't plan out a route, so much as go down to Baja (or wherever) with a list of places I'd like to check out -- I've got high priority location ideas, and lower priority detours. For months before any trip I spend my free time studying Google Earth satellite images and other resources for interesting spots to investigate. There'll be lots of note scribbling and highlighting in my Baja Almanac. Later, when I'm south of the border, I kind of make it up as I go along, trying to hit as many of my top spots as possible. Never enough time to see them all.

I'm embarrassed to say I haven't picked up fishing. Seems like it'd be right up my alley with my love of Baja and self-sufficiency. But on the other hand, on my trips I tend to find myself always moving on -- rarely stopping long in one place to linger -- and, perhaps, do some fishing. I did dig up some clams once (on the south end of Bahia Concepcion) and threw them in with pasta.

Re: Baja 2014 Trip Report

The convoy you saw on February the 20th was me followed by Andrew.

Really nice pictures! Seems that you also have a quadrocopter for stuning angles of view.

Re: Baja 2014 Trip Report

Wow, just went through your wickedly detailed blog. Thanks for putting that together. I dream of visiting Baja one day, but I would need a month off to do that from TN, and then I still wouldn't see what you can with that awesome Quadcopter. Really cool stuff, thanks for sharing!

Re: Baja 2014 Trip Report

I've got to get back to Baja next year. Absolutely love it down there. Moab in May will have to suffice.
