Baja Trip

After Christmas with my family in San Francisco, I was one day's drive closer to Mexico than my home in Seattle, so why not take the opportunity to do some Baja exploring! My wife didn't have the time to join me, so this was a solo trip:

Looks like a great trip Geoff!! But, drove right past our house and didn't even stop to say hello
From your route, deminimis and I were within a day or two of you for a good part of your trip.
But, I must admit, going solo does have its own rewards.

I've always dug how you take off on your own. I haven't done that in many years - and when I did, it was never quite an adventure. Usually nice quiet moments of solitude. When I start to master my van better, I'll have to go solo again.

thanks for the ride.

Thanks, everyone!

Yeah, going solo definitely adds a twist to road trips. It's nice once in a while to have the chance to be selfish about deciding (with no one else in mind) just how long, far, and "enthusiastically" to drive (or not) at any given point.

On the other hand, it certainly accentuates the feeling of being vulnerable out there. I find myself paying attention to the number and age of the tire tracks (if any) on my trail. Also, I did have a disassembled mountain bike with me as a backup vehicle.

I did frequently use my Spot device to let my wife know where I was and that I was OK.

Great trip Geoff. You missed out by not stopping by Scatter's Land-O-Fun.

Re: Baja Trip

Thanks for posting your trip report Geoff, I enjoyed reading it and the pictures. The Santa Rosallalita area is my favorite part of Baja.

Do you have any suggestions for a future trip in that area? I was originally planning on spending much of this trip working my way north up that coast from Santa Rosalillita all the way to Punta Canoas, but I was persuaded to focus on the gulf side instead, near Bahia de los Angeles.
