None. Though I didn't linger near the US border, Tijuana, etc.
I have heard stories of Tecate cops looking for bribes from tourists lately, but it didn't happen to me.

If it wasn't for your site, I might venture down there. Your pictures and travels keep me satisfied to explore from the safety of my easy chair here in the US. MAYBE someday. Thanks for the pictures Geoff

Re: Baja Trip -- May 2012
How long was the drive down to Baja from Seattle roughly? I'd like to surf kayak and camp down the Baja Peninsula. Looks like you found some nice surf beaches!

I managed to do it in 2 days, but I was driving hard: 9% over the speed limit, with minimal stops. I avoided I-5 by driving inland. 1400 miles in two 13-hour days:
Day 1: Seattle, Yakima, Bend OR, Summer Lake OR, Gerlach NV (camp in Black Rock Desert)
Day 2: Fallon NV, San Bernadino CA (camp north of the Mexican border)

Re: Baja Trip -- May 2012
It appears that you had the place almost entirely to yourself wherever you went. Fuel? Any facilities beyond the ridiculous-looking golf course area? I am sooo envious, and like daveb, maybe someday. According to Christine, definitely someday (her undergrad degree is in Latin American Studies and she is fluent ((though I didn't see anyone for her to talk to after the military checkpoint))
Are you up to putting together a convoy in 2014? Might even get a little guide fee from me and daveb
