I'm glad I brought several bottles Marc This was supposed to be a tiny storm but it's turning out to be a bit larger than I thought.

I'm a Rum drinker as well, Australian rum called "Bundaberg Rum", been around for about 120 years, I've been drinking it for 43 years, since I was 17!
Drinking premix can right now of Bundaberg & Cola Mid 3.5(low alcohol), have 1 or 2 these days. Tastes similar to Mt Gay, but darker colour. White Rum makes me aggressive, Shssshhhh!
Should have warmed you up nicely with the furnace as well!
Cheers.

We've got a bottle of Bundaberg Rum we brought from Oz for special occasions.

Damn, what the hell. They said it was only gonna snow a foot in spots. It just kept coming down. I had to bug out. Where I was it snowed well over 3 feet while I was there. I had to knock off the snow from the roof twice. After the second time I took a look at Radar and saw yellow and red coming into the central valley I left out. What a jack up drive. The trail is steep in spots and off camber not to mention narrow as hell. Twice I thought I was off the cliff when the rear broke away sliding sideways. Talk about sweat. I would have totaled the van. I was never so glad to see a friggin highway.
It snowed all the way to Sierra Village (about 30 miles) and in almost whiteout conditions. 15MPH for half the trek off the hill. Tripped back up 49/120 to Hetch Hetchy and stayed there for a night of DVD's and rum. On my way there something came off the mountain and hit the side of my van hard. Pulled over and found feathers on the ladder. This morning I found the Owl along side of the highway. Aluminess-1, bird-0. Kinda hated seeing that but at least no dents.
Guess I'll have to finish up the rum tonight

Yeah but I had plenty of food on my adventure. But it might have turned into a search and rescue if I'd have gone over the edge

Well I finally was able to crack a bottle. I do love colored rum more than white, just not the spiced stuff.

Re: California needs this
SMBs stink in the white stuff. Toyos stink in the white stuff. I carry tire chains (and rye whiskey) for such occurrences.

Re: California needs this
I hate chaining up. Thought about throwing them on the back but I just wanted to get out of there to somewhere I could drink in piece ASAP. Actually my SMB does better in snow than my pickup. I do agree that Toyo MT's suck in snow but I was glad I had em when I got to the next camp. Mud city.
I'm happy for the snow even if it wasn't much. We don't need no stinking rim fire return. Anything helps.

Re: California needs this
My van also does better in the snow than my brothers F350... I think the weight distribution must be the key.
