Troy.
Good stuff. We r gonna try and make those springs tonight. The north gate of crater is closed. But there is a turn off before the park. Stay tuned.

Oh, yeah, meant to tell you the north end was closed. It always is in winter, and at elevations, its going to be winter until august this year!

If you like the high desert (sage brush, dirt, and juniper) check out the area around Fort Rock, or even directly east of Bend toward Pine Mountain (there is a cool observatory and campground on top). If you can find China hat road, head east; there are hundreds of places to explore, including boondocking opportunities, lava tubes, and local wildlife.

You try going up the steamboat river down from crater lake. Killer little spot on the steelhead sanctuary. Go up from the steamboat inn and boondock or stay in one of the small campgrounds.

I haven't used Bing much, but i've been getting tired of google maps, not that good really. Mapquest and Bing both seem better in many respects. For serious duty, i have Topo! Garmin, and other software...

Troy.
We stayed at the hot springs. Weather was bad so we didn't hike to the springs.
Beautiful camping nearby. Hit Crater Lake this morning.
The weather broke just as we arrived.

Oh no, what a bummer! Great springs, roof over the big pool too! Only about a 5 or 10 minute walk. Lots of volcanoes in the Cascades range (pretty much all the big mtns) and so lots of hotsprings all over too.

Glad the weather cut you some slack for crater lake. I've never been there in the winter, looks beautiful.

In tapatalk it says you can do up to 3, but you can't- always get the last image and none of the others. Incidentally the "Host on Tapatalk Server" doesn't work either.

Great photos though, we'll have to suffer through one per post!
