Re: Central Ca October 2009 Meet.

I'll be in North Carolina then. Taking an aeroplane there. Sorry, the dates didn't work for me.

Re: Central Ca October 2009 Meet.

Here is a virtual tour (using national geographic Topo) of one of the 4x4 trails in the area of the 2009 Meet.

Bear Diversion Dam Trail

(If your browser shows everything as black, move your cursor over the upper left area. There should be a small movie icon.)

FYI, Charlie's link requires QuickTime 7.2 to view.

Here is a link to Google Maps with a route from SMB West to the turnoff to Sample Meadows.
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...,2.072296&z=10

Roughly 2.5 hours northeast of Fresno

Anyone who wants a Google Earth KMZ file just send me an email that I can respond to with an attachment.

Bear Diversion has some good fishing but it's a class 4 trail. Jack YVRR said he has fly fished it. You might PM him for the lowdown.

Yea we need to get up a plan Charlie. Your chart looks good. I guess Sample Meadows CG is gonna be the meeting spot so we need a good map of it. Kaiser Pass road is paved but the road to Sample is a combo of dirt and asphalt.

Is everyone up for a group run? I don’t want anybody to feel they have to hang with us or a group. If you want to explore on your own that’s fine. Maybe you want to mountain bike, fish, or head to one of the lakes.

1)Not just a "dog" but our son, Cooper, just happens to be furry and walk on 4 legs!
2)Who's in charge of the beer?

Re: Central Ca October 2009 Meet.

I found the campground on a couple of different AAA maps.

Fresno and Kings Counties map has the campground called out by name.

Sierra Nevada - Yosemite Area has a campground symbol for it.

Highway 168 East from Fresno for 59 miles (from Hwy 99)

Just past Huntington Lake turn right on Forest Service road 80

About 8 miles up FS80, turn left on FS5. About 5 miles to the campground.

I got the miles from the above maps. The FS road miles are guestimates.

I'm thinking about coming a day earlier and leaving a day earlier than planned. Sunday is the Griffith Park
Sidecar Rally - always a great show! Still undecided.

Re: Central Ca October 2009 Meet.

I'm thinking Friday would be a good day for a 4x4 trip and Saturday would be a good day for a group run with all the clan. Looks like several are coming in on Friday and would probably want to set up camp. I'd like to get a little feedback. Like I told Craig if we can't get any consensus, we'll just punt.
