The wife and I was in the the Snowy Mountain range on 7/3/20, not far from Sugarloaf, and we still had mosqitos. We are also from Iowa, and the altitude was not that friendly to us. Was a beautiful spot parked by a little creek. For us, so far, colorado has become our favorite summertime escape from the heat. Western South Dakota is right up there as well.

In Sept 2015 I stayed in Ouray for a few days and rode my motorbike through a number of passes in the area, including Imogene. The scenery was mostly spectacular and the jeep roads were, in places, interesting. I made videos of my rides and you can see them here https://www.venturacountytrails.org/...m#Colorado2015. In the videos I clearly label all the trails so you know where I'm riding. I make them to show off the scenery and to show what the trails/roads are like. I hope they help you decide where to point your van. I'm looking to go back there myself once travel becomes a reality again. Have fun!

@SteveTOaks - Fantastic videos! Took the liberty to view a couple of your others, Rekindled some fond memories which seemed to have been shelved from age (Telluride, Whistler, Rafting the Colorado). For that I thank you!

Drove to Imogene from Telluride in VivaLaVida in 2016 without any issue.

That's maybe the most exposed place, a few hundreds yards before reaching the summit: a large scree where the trail isn't very wide. But driving it carefuly, it's nothing difficult.
