Death Valley in December

While getting another fuel pump installed in Barstow, I spent time looking at the map and realized that I could catch the Nugget 250 desert race in Pahrump on the weekend and then head to Death Valley on Monday.
I don't have a firm destination, but Pahrump is close to an amazing old miners cabin I've stayed at before. I've been sworn to secrecy about it's location but if anyone cares to join me, I'll lead the way. Beyond that, I'm open to a few days exploration if anyone is interested. 4wd is recomended, but not manditory.

As someone on this forum mentioned to me based on my Barstow experience, Barstow is the "Bermuda Triangle of all things internal combustion".

Do you have a date yet? December is almost full, but would love to fit it in...

That was me.

Just replace "Berlin" with Barstow:

You should stop going to Barstow. It's a shithole anyway (no offense to any board members living in said shithole).

I'm jealous I worked at furnace creek back in the late 90s. Death Valley is such a amazing place one of the best national parks to visit.

Whoa. Truth. I've had multiple bad vehicle experiences in Barstow. Once upon a time, in the 80's perhaps (foggy memory), the only guy in town who knew how to replace the governor in our '85 Suburban (that ground down to look like an apple core while driving through the middle of the desert), well, his name was Burt. And it just so happens that Burt's funeral was the day we rolled into town in 1st gear. And every mechanic in town was a Burt's funeral. Ah, memories...

When will you be in California? Perhaps you'll be around for the meet up in Silverado on December 10th?
