Death Valley Road Conditions

For those traveling to Death Valley this winter, I received this from Death Valley Natural History Association today.

The road to Scotty's Castle, the Bonnie Clare Road, will have delays due to construction for much of the season, and will be entirely CLOSED for culvert replacement from January 12-14. Visitors will still be able to access Scotty's Castle during this temporary closure from Nevada by traveling north on Highway 95 to Scotty's Junction and Nevada Highway 267. Once the new culverts are in place, the Bonnie Clare Road will be reopened.

Ubehebe Crater Parking Area will be closed for repair from January 4 to March, 2010. Through traffic to Racetrack Road and Big Pine Road will remain open; expect delays.

Re: Death Valley Road Conditions

Charlie,
Thanks for posting this. I plan to be there later this month or in Feb. Will make sure to heed your warning.
