Doheny State Beach

Finally got the SMB out for its shake-down two night trip. Lots to learn as it came with no paperwork (repo). Looks as if ill need to take along my portable generator or install an inverter. Any recomendations? It's a 2006 EB SMB.

Thanks

Mike

Hey GF. Congrats on the rig. And you scored one of the beachfront sites. We'll be out there in June. I'd say inverter all the way but today's gens are really quiet and my inverter does seem to drain my battery quickly. What are you powering?

All of my electrical receptacles only work off AC power so I need to be plugged in. The only 12 volt are the cigarette lighter receptacles, house lights and fridge. I need my coffee in the morning and the 12 volt ones are crap. I do have a Honda 2000 that fits in my Aluminess box on the rear bumper, but I’m thinking an inverter would be nice.

I enjoy my coffee in the morning as well, so I may be able to help with that issue: Bought this about 2 years ago and it makes great coffee. Works off a small propane bottle. also provides a great aroma, which more times than not attracts neighbors...leads to some great morning conversations!

Coffee maker for $100?
Omg... you must have a money tree hidden.

My coffee ritual is boil water, use french press then drink... costs less than $20. And delicious.

As for using an inverter, how big is your battery bank and condition? Do you have solar to replenish the power used? Plan on running the vehicle's motor?

Solar panel was removed, I do have the solar controller panel. Can I run a portable solar panel off this controller? I have a large 4D Lifeline Battery just replaced.

Just picked up a 2007 Ford E150 two weeks ago, and I have had some coffee at Doho and T-Street. Lol. I am using some camp gear that I have until i have to change out. Just a cheap french press. Enjoy!

another coffee option, folds flat: https://ortliebusa.com/product/coffee-filter-10/

we love 'em & use for backpacking, travel & van too. not easy to find but shops that carry Ortlieb bike panniers should be able to order.
