Exploring B.C. next week

Now that I've retired (I hope) I have lots of time to explore. For the past 20 years, I've had to work all summer and do my exploring in the winter which is great, but I'm looking forward to seeing the country in better weather for once. Currently, I'm in Ketchikan, and I have a ticket on the Alaska Marine Highway to Prince Rupert on Monday. From there I'll work my way South to Washington where I'll do some more upgrades and repairs to the van before heading to Moab and points beyond. With no schedule, I've got plenty of time to explore and would enjoy meeting up with folks for some camping and a beer or two. I'm open to ideas of places to visit in BC, but I expect that there is still plenty of snow that will limit the options for now. I'm open to trying anything that won't require a massive effort to extract my self from, but the more remote the better. In addition, I can offer parking, showers, small repair assistance and beers to anyone passing through Anacortes Wa when I'm there.

When you get to Anacortes, if you are interested, I'd love to pop up on a weekend (since I'm not retired) to see your rig, be a second pair of hands on any work you are doing on your van, and swap some sea stories.

When do you think you'll make to Moab?
If I'm not back at work (driving cross country), I would be happy to meet up with you.
I too should be retired by now, but I need to save up a little more for some upgrades to the van, and the damn kids keep wanting money.
And I'm always ready for a beer.

I'm not quite sure yet, but certainly before it gets too hot there. The end of March perhaps? I'll let you know, thanks.....

Ohh really nice. Enjoy.

So you're going through the mainland down to the border? or gonna hop on over to Vancouver Island? Given the exchange rate, spend some money up there.... It's rainy and cold over there, but not snowing at sea level right now. Going down that way and then popping over from Victoria to Port Angeles is my fav, but YMMV. I've never been out to Clayquot and the Nat Park out there in the winter, but it's supposed to be rather dramatic.

I've spent quite a bit of time on Vancouver island exploring, and I love it. I plan to do another trip up the island this summer. There is a ferry from Anacortes that run's all summer, making it a quick hop for us. This trip though, I plan to stick to the mainland routes and explore some new and hopefully out of the way places. .

stewart/Hyder and the salmon glacier is great. We really enjoyed Bella coola. There's also some ghost towns up around there, I'll try to remember the names.

Hopefully your dates can match my free time! I'm driving to Vegas around Mars 10 for a couple weeks of warm weather. Other than that I should be around and can offer you a room or go play in the outdoor!
Cheers
David
