Fall Baja trip

I put together a video of our Oct / Nov Baja trip if anyone is interested. The video is located on YouTube HERE. Some day I'll figure out how to embed a video directly into a post.

Other than losing the vacuum pump (and subsequently my brakes) 4 hours into the trip it was another fantastic Baja trip! I'll be heading down again Feb / March solo to do some exploring. My wife isn't so much the 4 wheeling explorer type so I'll go find more wife friendly spots to take her to later.

Embedding a video is easy.
1. Go to the video on YouTube in a browser.
2. Copy the link in the browser address bar.
3. Go to the post on the SMB forum and paste the copied link into the post.
4. Done.

I may be down there in February March too. My wife is not a dirt roader either although she enjoyed being down there last year.

Great travel video and we are heading to Aqua Verde in about 3 weeks. Not sure which beach you were on and there are a few to choose from. Guess we need to better explore AV this time.

Thanks for the video Phil, with the wife retiring next spring maybe just maybe I'll be able to talk her into venturing down to Baja. Honestly the beach shots you shared just might do the trick.

We always stay at the north end of the main town beach at "the tree". It is very rare that there is anyone near us. There's been some property ownership changes in the town and a nice family owns the land "the tree" is on now and there is a damaged (when I was there) palapa there now. Owner is Yovani and his wife Cynthia (and young daughter Carolina). Super nice people. We had them over for a pizza night at camp. If you go and stay at that spot may I suggest bringing something for Carolina (coloring book, child book (Spanish of course), etc.). I met Yovani when he tried to get me to pay for being on his land. This was new to me as the entire beach was always free. Turns out half my van was on his land. This led to a long conversation (my Spanish isn't that great but it was a learning moment) that resulted in a friendship. He ended up saying I didn't need to pay (I did anyway as it wasn't much) and he brought me a bucket of fresh caught fish that he cleaned for us the morning we left.

You can camp on the peninsula too. I never have as it seems a little more crowded at times and we like "our spot". I'm going to check out some more spots on the way to Agua Verde in Feb / March that I've wanted to.

When I took my wife down for the first time in Feb 2021 I planned the trip out based on known (to me) spots that I knew she would like and with only mild or no 4 wheeling combined with stops in Airbnb or "real campgrounds" so she could get her dose of showers and flushy toilets. Now that she has been down a couple times we can take longer between those luxury stops. She still doesn't like the exploring and unknown 4wd treks so I'm going to do more of that when I head down Feb / March then take her to spots that I know would be "wife approved".

It's not for everyone, but it's for us!

Insurance

Curious to know if you insured your rig for the entire trip? Or just the trip down and back up? I remember my first trip down I insured it for 6 days and we were more or less stationary for 4 days. I went with Bajabound and in 2017 it cost me approximately $350. On my subsequent trips I chose to skip on the insurance. Thoughts?

Sounds like you got full coverage. I get liability only and buy for a year at a time which covers 1 or 2 trips for me.
