Re: February road trip - any advice?

Northern Arizona, in particular. That will place you close to Utah. THAT"S the ticket! The Paria Wilderness area near Big Water, Page and all the great canyons near Lake Powell. Escalante National Monument. Toroweap on Grand Canyons North Rim. And everything else in southern Utah.

Re: February road trip - any advice?

What are those places (N. Arizona, S. Utah) like in February? I understand that access to the north rim of the Grand Canyon is closed in winter.

If there is snow, the North Rim is closed in the winter. We have had no snow this year, so maybe it's open this year. Try calling the NPS. However, Toroweep is open all year round. It is a 64 mile drive on a dirt road. The last 10 miles are a little rough, but I made it in my 2W before my lift. Just make sure you have a good spare tire just in case. You won't want to miss Toroweep if you want to see the Grand Canyon with no one (or only a few people) around. It is a gorgeous place. See my pictures on my Facebook:

For those not on Facebook, you can find some of the pictures in my Forum gallery starting on page 44 at the top of the page and going backwards to page 40. This will give you an idea of the road to Toroweep and the sites when you get there. Just hit "prev" to see the next picture:

Mac,

Your Facebook link didn't work for me. Maybe because I'm not on Facebook? Or?
