February road trip - any advice?

What would be a good road trip for 10 days or so starting mid to end of February?
We will begin in Southern California.
We have diesel heat so can handle cold weather, but I don't know that we are ready for heavy snow.

Most of CA, AZ, NM and TX south of I-10 is pretty nice this time of year. Big Bend NP in Texas is worth the trip and there are lots of stops between SoCal and there.

Death Valley is always worth a visit.

Southern Arizona is good and they have nice State Parks - like Picacho Peak.

Big Bend also gets a nod from me.

Carlsbad Caverns are the same temps year round.

We haven't explored Arizona before. Any spots we should be sure to include? Good hiking? Nice places to camp without crowds?

Tombstone is fun for fans of the old west, Cochise Stronghold is very beautiful and quite rugged others can chip in with more.

February may be early but southern Az wildflowers are always worth a visit.

Southeastern Utah is also an option. No snow to speak of this year!

Re: February road trip - any advice?

Arizona: Oatman, Sedona, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon South Rim, Tonto Natural Bridge, Tonto National Forest area, Four Corners.

Utah: Zion, Bryce, Cedar Breaks, Kodachrome Basin State Park, Highway 12 to Capitol Reef, Arches, Four Corners

Nevada: If headed to Utah, spend one day/night at the Valley of Fire State Park just north of Las Vegas.

California: Death Valley, Mojave Preserve

Plenty of places to keep you busy for weeks. Weather will be fine unless the jet stream changes and winter finally arrives. All places are 2W accessible even if it snows except Cedar Breaks. They don't plow the road there, so if it is heavy snow the road is closed.

Re: February road trip - any advice?

Hi;

In Sedona, AZ find the road to the airport and head all the way up to the top for the best view point in the area.

Regards,

Gavin

Re: February road trip - any advice?

Thanks for the advice. We will go to Arizona as suggested.

If you have any other ideas, keep them coming.
