Well, I have a conflict (already planned trip with my father in the southeast that week.) But, maybe next time. Have fun all.

Re: Forum Rally 09 May 11-15th in Moab

Having it in Moab instead of Glacier makes it possible for me but all depends on my mom's health and I can't be sure about that until maybe a month prior.
It would be great, though.

Re: Forum Rally 09 May 11-15th in Moab

Joe,
The Colorado river runs right thru town, class II and a few class III rapids. Westwater canyon is further north on the same river Class III and IV. We are not quite ready for that level yet, so we will hang out from the Onion creek put in to beach take out. Canyon Ventures rents Kayaks and duckie's.
Hope to see other people on the river and on all the great trails in the area.
Marc

Re: Forum Rally 09 May 11-15th in Moab

I hope to make it but with the overland expo on the last week of April and then syncro de mayo the next week that makes 3 events in a row. We'll see what happens.

Seth,

Isn't syncro de mayo a regular excuse to get out of town? Like Fiesta!

Re: Forum Rally 09 May 11-15th in Moab

Seems like I'll miss everyone by a week. I'll be on the White Rim from 5/2-5/4, in Moab 5/5 & 6, off to Gooseberry Mesa 5/7 & 8, Mammoth or Alabama Hills 5/9 then home. Heading out with a buddy to hike, mtb ride and 4wd. Should be fun, but bummer I'll miss the chance to meet everybody.

Have fun!

Phil

Re: Forum Rally 09 May 11-15th in Moab

Cinco de Mayo and Fiesta are both great reasons to leave town! I'm talking about Syncro de Mayo, as VW syncro vanagons.
http://www.syncrodemayo.org/
We have this event every year at Hollister Hills SRVA on the first weekend in May. This year is our 10th event and I'm the person organizing the event so it's a must do for me. The event is 4 days long and we usually get about 75 vans or so. We even have folks come from Europe.
Here's some video of last year
THat's an obsticle coarse with PVC poles that have golf balls balanced on them, if you hit the pole the ball falls off and you get penalized. We are talking about a new driving contest this year with blindfolded drivers and a navigator giving instructions. Should be fun.

I still hope to make it to Moab but I'm allready taking of a week in febuary for death valley trip, 2 weeks in march for a trip to Europe and then the last week in april for SDM and Overland Expo. Shaping up to be a very busy spring!

Count me in, since it's just down the road from me.

Re: Forum Rally 09 May 11-15th in Moab

The forum rally works for us since we had already planned to be in Moab mountain biking that week. Should be fun to meet up with other SMB owners. Our 2wd Sprinter will probably stay parked while we explore on bikes.
