Forum Rally

I think we need to have a mini-Rally for the forum members (and non-members).

Would anyone be interested in a little informal gathering of the SMBs?

How far out would we need to plan it to make it work for folks?

Re: Forum Rally

Jage;
If it is going to be done in Your neighborhood, we'll be out there [Apache Junction] for up to 6 weeks in January.
Could be a fun time.

In theory in January I'll no longer live here, but I also want to think about where most people could make an informal event. I don't mind driving myself if it means more SMBs can attend. Heck I don't even want to organize it-

Guess it would depend where and when.

All;
When & Where IS the question.
We're heading South for a week in Ky. after New Years day, arriving in {Phoenix} AZ {Jan. 15th} remaining in the Phoenix area until {Feb 10}.
Route includes I75 South and [weather permitting] I40 West.
Weather may require a route change to I10 West but dates remain the same.
Next I10 East to Corpus Christi for a week or two, then Ocean Springs Miss. for a couple weeks.
Next East on I10 to Fla. then North through Ga. Tn. for another week in Ky. [somerset-Russell Springs] before returning to Ohio.
All inclusive {100} days.
Anywhere along this route would be fine allowing for our SMB's configuration, [2WD].

Well, summer is filling up, at least for us, but how about this winter? Ken mentioned January and that works for us. We'll be at our place in Baja, but should be able to head north. Actually, how about doing a Baja rally?

We're willing to use our place for a meet up spot if anyone is interested. Gas, diesel and water ten miles away. 4x4 not needed to get there, just decent ground clearance and GOOD tires. Lots of places to camp along the way and in the area if you don't like our beach. We're about 200 miles south of the border on the Sea of Cortez side.

Just tossing it out as an option....

Count me in any time after the end of august as interested. I'm taking the week-old van up to SalemKroger today for the 4x4 conversion, and it'll be away for the next few weeks at least.

Phoenix / AZ works well for me as well, but I profess I don't know much about the area. I'm currently planning on camping there for labor day (just going to pick somewhere out in the desert for my inaugural camping trip. I have family in Phoenix who I'll be visiting part time...

I like the idea of a Baja trip in January, although I'm planning to move so it might be a bit sketchy for me this year. Who else would go to this? Who would go to a January Baja thing in 2009 or '10? (Assuming it could be an annual event, mr. scatter )

Where in baja exactly?

Also Buji you need to PM me... I'd like to get together for a day or night... I have yet to visit "somewhere in the desert" despite moving out here for exactly that purpose.

Somewhere in the desert

Jage & Buji;
In 1973 we spent two weeks with 4 adults an 4 kids, [2-6 yo] dry camped beside the Salt River in the Tonto National forest.
Just pulled up and set up the TT for Grma & Grpa and the tent for the rest of us.
I don't know if it could be done today but they will allow rigs under 22' down there.
This coming winter while we're in Apache Junction AZ. I plan to leave the TT at my brothers house and take my "Trophy Bride" up there for a day or two in our SMB.
I doubt we'll be doing Baja as we don't have passpotrs and don't want them.

Hmmmm, I like the Baja idea.

Schedule is in flux as always, but I would lobby to get the family on board for a Baja rally.
