Re: Get ready to get your BAJA on! 2/27/14 - 3/7/14

Baja Bound is a good choice. My brother and I know better than to break more than one rule while driving, but... we were driving at dusk in baja, speeding, and having a road soda. One mile from the Chapala turn to San Felipe, hit a cow. Totaled the dodge truck. It was HUGE to be able to talk to a an English speaking representative from Baja Bound. Though the insurance was thru a Mexican company (forgot which company my bro had) Baja Bound made numerous calls to the insurance company while we were stranded at Rancho Chapala. When we tried to deal with the mexican companies directly with our less than adequate spanish it was really tough. Baja Bound is more expensive, but when you need to file a claim.......it was worth the money. Got the value of the truck back on the claim, and got to keep the truck. Couple months later.....brought the parts to fix her up in Ensenada.

Re: Get ready to get your BAJA on! 2/27/14 - 3/7/14

Thanks guys! In from shoveling snow so checking out both insurance company's and I noticed that they will cover the value that is found on KBB or NADA if a total loss. So that's the same issue I have here at home, the blue book value is way lower than the actual value for the van at least in my mind.

I have what I think they call a stated value policy. I tell them how much I need it covered for and pay the price. Same type policy I think that is used for classic cars. So any idea if there's a company that will do the same for Mexican coverage?

I'll be running this route next week, and will be able to report back any conditions I turn up. Be back late February before y'all leave!

I went with Lewis and Lewis.

Check with your insurance to see if you vanis covered in Mexico like that you just need to take the liability for Mexico.

Progressive does it.
