Grand Coulee weekend

We got away last weekend for a couple days in the Grand Coulee area of central Washington. Not much of a trip report to write up, but I have some photos here:

It's amazing to me how much cool stuff there is to explore in the northwest even after many years of living here. I had not driven the Coulee Corridor (Highway 17 and 155) before. We traveled from Soap Lake to Coulee Dam on Sunday. We camped at Banks Lake Sunday night and spent Monday wandering west.

Great pictures. Looks like a great trip.

Where did you camp? We were just talking about heading over that way.

We camped on the NW shore of Banks Lake at the end of Barker Canyon Road:

Signs there said it is private land with legal public access. And it's free camping.

Garage

Thanks for the post. I have not been camping in the Sun Lakes area for 30 years... an it is on our list of destinations to return to one of these days.

Cheers,

Re: Grand Coulee weekend

We followed in your footsteps and visited the dam and camped on Banks Lake last week. Your secret camp spot is pretty primo. It was swarming with mosquitoes but the wind kept up the whole time we were there which kept the bugs and the heat at bay. It wasn't Baja, but it was an ideal place to camp. Thanks for pointing it out.
