Group Photo of the DRV 2013 attendees taken last night....
Good times were had by all even though I got a baby tap by a scorpion cleaning up camp, threw a code coming up the grade and discovered an oil leak when I pulled over and filled the van with dirt in a mini dust storm right as we were packing up.
Looking forward to the next one with you all!!

Group Photo of the DRV 2013 attendees taken last night....
Great meeting Haywood, gooseberry and ktm for the first time.
I had a blast.
Went on a trail solo, got stuck in a weird spot, ran back to camp and 3 Tacoma dudes from exp portal bailed me out, spotting, digging, filling etc.

Of course there's usual the pointing, laughing, picture taking, that goes along with asking for recovery help. That always helps drive home the lesson for me.
Love the UV light picture of the scorpion.
I take it that's a snake in the one picture? A little hard to tell.

definitely a rattler...avoid them. was bit by a baby one in the mid 90's. really ruins any immediate future plans of fun stuff.
whats it like being tagged by a scorpion? ive been able to avoid a sting from them so far.

Baby's bites are worse than adult's. They don't have full venom control and you get a full dose. Adults wantto conserve venom for future strikes (if needed) and you get a smaller dose.

Got lucky and it just felt like a bee sting. Must have just grazed me. It was sitting up against one of my leveler squares when I moved the truck. There was a mini dust storm going on at that time so I could barely keep my eyes open when I was reaching down to get them. Google's next time!!

I've been rattled at twice. Once by a baby rattler as I was climbing up a creekbed and put my hand up on a ledge, the second time by a big rattler. He must have been the same diameter at a soda can, and about 6 feet long. Both times I moved faster that I thought was humanly possible.
